Goodbye Harrow, hello world. Via Heathrow, Terminal 5. There's something reassuring about starting this trip on a regular bus. The 140 takes about 50 minutes from Harrow to Heathrow central bus station. The onward transit to T5 via the Heathrow Express adds a further 15 minutes or so. Must say T5 seems to be working. Check in and security all done in 10 minutes. Lovely. A quick stop in WHSmiths for some water and books - I shall mostly be reading Ian McEwan during the early part of my trip - and on to Starbucks. A visit to the duty free shop to test various aftershaves to follow. I couldn't imagine getting on a flight without smelling like a cheap tart. I'll give the bars a miss, mainly as the medical advice is not to drink with the malaria tablets I'm on. Given that I'll be on the pills for a couple of months at least I'm sure I'll be testing that medical advice at some point. Hilarity will no doubt follow.
Congratulations to Tony and Nicky who are getting married today. Best of luck for the future.
